  • The First Week at a New Job – Character and Influence

    (Author: Alex Stevenson)

    (Date: 09/11/25 5:30 am.)

“The absence of alternatives clears the mind marvelously.”
    — Henry Kissinger

Starting your first week at a new job as a young man can be both exciting and intimidating. You want to make a strong impression, but you also want to be yourself in a way that is authentic and relatable. The truth is, those first few days can shape how your coworkers, supervisors, and future mentors see you — their early perceptions can influence the dynamics of your workplace relationships.

Therefore, it’s important to think carefully about the character you portray and the people you attach yourself to. Engage with your colleagues, show genuine interest in their work, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Building a rapport early on can lead to valuable connections and opportunities for collaboration. Remember, being approachable, friendly, and demonstrating a willingness to learn can go a long way in establishing a solid foundation for your career journey.

The initial week isn’t just about learning the technical parts of your role; it’s about building trust with your colleagues and establishing a strong foundation for future relationships. People won’t remember every word you say, but they will remember the way you carry yourself and how reliable you seem. Your demeanor in the office can speak volumes, often conveying your commitment to your work and to the team. Professionalism, honesty, and consistency are crucial traits that can set you apart from others who may be equally skilled but less intentional in their manner.

That doesn’t mean pretending to be perfect or putting on a facade; rather, it’s about genuinely engaging with your work and your peers by showing up on time, being open to feedback, listening carefully, and showing genuine respect toward others, regardless of their position or experience. These small but powerful habits form a reputation that can stick for years, influencing how others perceive your capabilities and dedication, ultimately paving the way for collaborative opportunities and mutual respect within the workplace.

Equally important is deciding who you gravitate toward in the workplace. The coworkers you eat lunch with, shadow during tasks, or seek guidance from can heavily influence both your growth and perception. Surrounding yourself with people who inspire discipline, work ethic, and growth will help you adopt those same qualities, ultimately creating a positive feedback loop that fosters your professional development.

Engaging with driven individuals not only enhances your skill set but also expands your network, opening doors to new opportunities and collaborations. On the other hand, aligning with consistently negative colleagues can tarnish your image before you’ve even had a chance to stand on your own. Their pessimism may weaken your morale, hinder your motivation, and cloud your judgment, making it crucial to be deliberate about the relationships you cultivate within your professional environment.

The first week is the foundation of your professional journey, setting the tone for the experiences and relationships to come. Your character is your currency, a valuable asset that will determine how others perceive and interact with you, while your chosen circle is your compass, guiding you through the complexities of your chosen field. By demonstrating integrity, respect, and a genuine eagerness to learn, you not only establish your credibility but also pave the way for meaningful connections.

Surrounding yourself with positive influences further amplifies this effect, enabling you to absorb knowledge and skills from those who inspire you. In this way, you make your first week not just a step forward but the beginning of a lifelong career mindset, one that embraces growth, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. Embracing these principles at the outset can lead to invaluable opportunities and a fulfilling professional life.

“Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker.” – John Adams

Life introduces us to opponents in many forms — a competitive peer, a difficult boss, an old rival, or even the inner voice telling us we’re not enough. For young men, the instinct might lean toward confrontation, proving strength through battle. But true victory isn’t achieved by fists or aggression. Instead, the art of overcoming an opponent rests in strategy, self-mastery, and patience.

The first step is recognizing that every opponent teaches you something valuable. A rival may point out weaknesses you didn’t know you had. A critic may sharpen your focus. Even a difficult boss or peer might reveal limits in your patience or communication skills. By reframing conflict as a teacher, you learn to extract value instead of reacting with emotion.

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” – John F. Kennedy

Second, understand that composure is more powerful than a raised voice. Opponents feed on your impulsive reactions because it proves their ability to control you. Keeping calm under pressure strips their advantage. Silence, measured responses, and consistency become your shield. Thinking before moving ensures your steps are deliberate, not reactive.

Third, outsmart rather than outmuscle. This might mean better preparation, sharper skills, or deeper resilience. If an opponent wants you rattled, success becomes your answer. Work on your craft until their criticisms fall flat. Build alliances, nurture mentors, and expand opportunities so that their hostility becomes background noise rather than a barrier.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God.” – George H.W. Bush

Finally, focus inward. The greatest opponent is often yourself — your doubts, insecurities, and fears. When you master your own mind through discipline, goal-setting, and resilience, external opponents lose much of their power. They may still exist, but they no longer dictate your path.

Beating an opponent in life without violence is the ultimate act of strength. It shows that power is not in destruction but in growth. It displays maturity, wisdom, and a vision bigger than petty conflicts. In the end, you don’t just defeat your opponent — you transcend the battle entirely. True champions win with patience, focus, and grace.

  • I can’t believe the disloyalty you’ve shown the world is a cruel place.

    Author: Alex Stevenson

    Date: 9/9/25 5:30 a.m

    Intro

You really thought you had a friend? Wake up and smell the stinking coffee, because that illusion is just that—an illusion. Sure, there might be a loyal friend in your life, but finding one is rarer than hitting the mega millions jackpot. I’m not trying to rain on your parade; I’m just sharing my brutally honest experiences. It’s no coincidence that time and again, post after post, song after song, we hear the same lament about disloyal friends.

Read more: Creed 3 Damion vs Creed: When your friends become your foes, out the window your story goes.

In the movie Creed 3, Damion became Creed’s biggest rival due to a heartbreaking miscommunication from their childhood. Life pulled them in drastically different directions, exemplifying how often tragedy stems from our closest relationships. It’s striking how true rivalries seldom arise with strangers; instead, they often emerge from the bonds we hold dear when circumstances shift unexpectedly. In the wake of their rivalry, Damion reached out to challenge Creed to a fight, reflecting the complexities of their shared history.

    Body

Okay, if you’re brave enough to see past the silly name-calling, you can totally feel the real hurt in Damion’s voice—it’s so intense it just hangs there during the fight. This moment is bursting with an energy that’s tough to put into words; the fire, the rebellion—only those who really get it can understand. But then, out of the blue, everything goes quiet, and it’s like the crowd just disappears.

Okay, game on, every word out of each opponent’s mouth is as clear as the beginning of the rain. The punches are eerie, and just when you thought this magnificent scene was over, Creed throws a crushing hook to the jaw after suffering multiple blows to the body, and down goes Damion. The crowd reappears as Damion cannot make the ten count; his legs are wobbling, eyes glazed, and Creed walks off with the victory.

    Conclusion

But hold up, there’s more! After the win, Creed swings by Damion’s locker to chat. They both kinda agreed it wasn’t either of their faults, which was a bit strange but kinda nice. Damion tells Creed, “They’re waiting for you, just go”; Creed replies, “I got your back if you need anything.”

This reflects real-life events, but now many people are more authentic and only put on a facade briefly. Be discerning about whom you share your secrets with; revealing too much can lead to your downfall, as the saying goes, when friends turn into foes, your narrative can easily slip away. Remember, you hold more value than you realize; make today a fantastic one.

  • The reason more youth are not interested in baseball anymore

    Author: Alex Stevenson

    Date: 9/8/25 8:30 a.m

    relationships, life, personal lessons,
    Father son dynamic

The game of baseball a sport that requires patience and great eye coordination. Many have asked why has the youth abandoned the game we’ll baseball is an acquired taste similar to chess or tennis. If your not taught the game young it’s impossible to watch because so much of baseball is thinking okay runner on first should he run on the first pitch or it’s two outs who will pinch hit for the eight batter.

“Innovation is not just about creating new products; it’s about improving the lives of people everywhere.” — Tim Cook

See, basketball is an exhilarating rush! It’s fast-paced and effortlessly enticing; all you need is one person and a ball to dive into the excitement. Football, with its intense collisions, can be taught easily, igniting a thrill like no other. Then there’s baseball, a sport that intricately dances between strategy and skill; while boxing might be about hurting the opponent, the suspense of baseball keeps you on the edge of your seat. Unlike boxing, baseball doesn’t promise a knockout, but that makes understanding the game all the more crucial and captivating!

    Reality of current baseball

For the majority, the idea of dining out is a joke; delivery is the new norm. Do you really believe Aunt Mary or little Timmy give a damn about baseball when there are far more exciting sports vying for their attention? Absolutely not! Baseball, once the epitome of father-son bonding, now languishes because it’s a game that needs to be spoon-fed by Dad. This disconnection is yet another nail in the coffin for baseball’s relevance with today’s youth.

“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” — Steve Jobs

Honestly, can anyone really name five baseball players currently without looking it up? I only know of two—Mike Trout and Aaron Judge. Perhaps that’s because I’m not really into sports. I’ve talked to others, and while they can easily name legends like Derek Jeter or Barry Bonds from decades past, it seems much harder to name today’s stars. If the best baseball players walked right past me, I honestly wouldn’t recognize them.

I’m not trying to be mean but come on you agree with me.

    Rating: 5 out of 5.

The fall of baseball isn’t merely reflected in plummeting viewership; it represents a crumbling connection between fathers and sons. For countless generations, this game wasn’t just a pastime or a spectacle—it was a sacred inheritance. A father teaching his son to grip a glove, unraveling the artistry of nine painstaking innings, and sharing the thrill of Sunday games forged a legacy that solidified baseball as America’s cherished pastime. Without this ritual, what becomes of our shared history?

“Your dream is not over. It’s just beginning. Push past the fear and chase what sets your soul on fire.” — Steve Harvey

Today, that connection has taken a bit of a nap—maybe even a long one! With sports zooming by faster than a caffeinated squirrel, countless digital distractions popping up like weeds, and fewer dads making it to their kid’s games than to the couch for a nap, baseball has lost its storytelling wizards. Without those old pros spinning yarns that link the old-timers with the newbies, the sport feels like a lifeguard on a deserted beach—just not as lively, not as personal, and let’s face it, not as cool. What used to thrive on shared tales and family rituals now feels like a grandpa trying to use Instagram—struggling to stay relevant!

  • Are we programmed to believe we live a real life?

    Author: Alex Stevenson

    Date 8/8/25 5:30 a.m

    Introduction

Denzel has many movies we all love to watch. Think training day, equalizer, remember the titans, and several more but one movie that doesn’t get noticed is 1992 movie (ricochet) a movie that focuses on programming and the effects it has.

    Pages: 1 2 3 4

  • It’s all fun & games until you get in the ring and reality sets in.

    Author: Alex Stevenson

    Date 8/07/25 8:30 a.m

    Introduction

Think twice about what you wish for, because it just might come back to bite you! The UFC, with Dana White at the helm and fighters like Conor, Rousey, Silva, and a few others, spent nearly a decade stirring the pot and throwing shade at Floyd Mayweather, generating an explosive buzz for their sport.

“In the ring, it’s not just about strength; it’s about strategy, precision, and mindset. Every fight is a chess match, and I always play to win.” — Floyd Mayweather

I remember it all began with the lively debate over UFC being real fighting, where boxers were seen as less capable in street fights. Then, as if igniting a spirited discussion, older fighters started mentioning Floyd’s name, referring to him as a clever strategist. Even Dana White jumped in, highlighting his unique skillset and approach. The excitement grew even more when Dana recognized the need for a female presence, and then Rhonda Rousey burst onto the main stage, captivating everyone with her talent and charisma.

    Body

Many are familiar with Rousey from her wrestling and film roles, yet she was once the most celebrated UFC fighter before McGregor. It’s remarkable how she confidently claimed she could defeat Mayweather, even though she had never faced a male fighter professionally at that time. The media’s support for her assertion was quite striking, especially considering their strong advocacy against violence in relationships. It raises an interesting conversation about the complexities of gender dynamics in sports and society at large.

“In boxing, it’s not just about the punches you throw; it’s about the heart you bring into the ring. Technique and determination are what separate the champions from the challengers.” — Floyd Mayweather Sr.

But she took a flying leap off the radar after the brawl with Holly Holmes and Amanda Nunez! No worries, though—McGregor had the same exit strategy, but let’s be real: that guy could trash talk his way out of a locked room! He’s like the Shakespeare of the octagon, better than everyone, and just as sharp as Mayweather. Remember when he joked about Floyd, saying, “He wouldn’t dare step into my playground” and mocked, “His little legs and that tiny core”? Classic! And who could forget when he called Floyd a B****? He really dropped the mic there, especially with that line about retiring twice—priceless!

    Conclusion

But let’s be real, the fun ends when you step into the ring. The lead-up to the fight was a comedy show, but the actual showdown was a brutal masterclass in domination. Mayweather barely threw punches at first, but when Floyd started landing hits in the later rounds, Conor’s lack of strategy became painfully obvious. The fight concluded with a decisive stoppage, leaving Conor in the dust. Floyd had the upper hand from the start—it was an unfair match-up, but it’s the aftermath that’s truly worth dissecting.

“In boxing, skill is your best ally. If you can’t outsmart your opponent, you can’t expect to walk out as a champion.” — Roger Mayweather

After that fight, Conor dealt with some serious head issues. He won’t come out and say it, but he wasn’t pumped about having to face Khabib. Honestly, if he could have dodged that match, he probably would’ve chosen to throw down with Diaz again or box Paulie Malignaggi instead. Floyd really messed with his career, and it’s wild how no one wants to see that; Khabib just pushed his career further into the ground. Just remember, you matter more than you think. Have an awesome day!
